International Research Staff Exchange Scheme

AMIS project is supported by the European Commission through the Marie Curie programme IRSES. International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) is a mobility scheme designed to help research organisations establish and/or strengthen long-term cooperation with other higher education research institutions, through a coordinated exchange programme for their staff. AMIS is a Sino-European mobility project aiming to foster academic exchange between 15 Universities and Research Institutions from France, Spain, Germany, Denmark and China. The main objective is to establish a long-lasting collaboration and create a network of European and Chinese research centres of excellence in the area of air quality and climate change studies. Climate and global change, as well as environmental pollution and their possible effects on health, are pressing societal challenges. It is apparent that sustainable societal development cannot remain solely wealth-oriented, but must embrace an environmentally conscious agenda. Such an approach is possible if scientifically sound knowledge in all environmental areas becomes available to our societies and policy makers. A firm scientific basis to our understanding of the troposphere is of particular importance, as it contains the air that people breathe. It is to address such issues that we aim in this project to establish a long-lasting collaboration and create a network of European and Chinese research centres of excellence in the area of air quality and climate change studies.

This aim will be achieved by undertaking joint research activities via collaboration facilitated by individual mobility of researchers between Europe and China. Duration: 4 years (1st February 2012 - 31st January 2016) Budget: 924.000 €
